Think Tank #3

Last night's meeting was very eventful!  (video coming soon!) We were visited by ABC News Radio and they interviewed us about the Obama Cheer Project (we will link to the interview when it is live).  We were also visited by Floor Bremer, a reporter for Dutch Public Television in Amsterdam, who is following grass-roots initiatives for the Obama Campaign.

We really need the attention from press and friends to help spread the word and get people excited to rally.  The group last night came up with some alternate verses for the cheer, and each day the cheer gets stronger and more relevant.  These are some verses that were written at the meeting:

See us here with sweat and tears,

We can conquer all our fears.

Leaders should feel what we feel,

Then body mind and soul will heal

Politics make us divide,

But we are all the same inside,

Red or Blue, a separation,

Will no more define our nation

No more park and offshore drilling,

No more raising kids for killing,

Wind and Sun are free and clean,

We can make our planet green

Our Next Think Tank

UPDATE!

The word is starting to spread about our project, more cheer ideas are coming in, look for some of the best ones here.  As soon as the cheer is finalized, we will set out with cameras in hand to teach and record EVERYONE who wants to do the "Obama Cheer".  We will continue to document on video as well as in writing our progress, but we have to move fast! 

Please help us spread the word about our project and let us know if you or your group would like to be taped doing the "Obama Cheer" and become part of our history.

Think Tank #2

For the next brainstorming session on Wednesday July 16 we assembled another small group of friends, and friends of friends...broke out the snacks and drinks again, and briefed them on what has been accomplished up to this point.  After the briefing, we all agreed we needed more "fun" in our lyrics and content, while keeping it simple and easy to learn.  Repetition of lines, was a big theme this night as well as ANYTHING that rhymed with "-ation", and here are some of the verses this crew came up with (in no particular order):

Listen to our proclamation

We are gonna heal the nation

Red or Blue, a separation

Will NOT divide our generation

STOP the bleeping hesitation

End the damn procrastination

Let McCain go on vacation

WE are gonna heal the nation

Let's begin to heal the nation

It will be our own creation

There must be no hesitation

We are gonna heal the nation

We will have a celebration!

I think we got all the "-ation" rhymes out of our system...some of these verses will certainly make the final cheer.

Think Tank #1

We began our group brainstorming sessions by reaching out to friends, and friends of friends who were interested in coming together for the cause and banging out a creative cheer. The first assembly of the "think tank" convened on Tuesday July 15.  And for 2 hours we pounded out cheers and rhymes and managed to trash the original cheer based on its rhythmic difficulty.

A more direct, easy to follow rhythm and verse was on the table.  Rhymes were debated, content was king and we banged out the new version below:

O-B-A-M-A,

Change is gonna start today

Loud and clear, hear our voice

Now is when we make our choice

Unity, Unity

We are one community

Health-care, education

We are gonna heal the nation
